Wednesday Evening

The choir and memorials committee each brought powerful presentations, and we were reminded of the great losses our association has faced this year. On a personal note, a friend and mentor, Brother Bobby Bryant Sr., passed away last night a few hours after the memorials report. Please keep his family in prayer.

Here are my notes from Brother Danny Jones' powerful sermon.

Brother Danny Jones

To All the Earth

1 Chronicles 16:23-36

Luke 19:40 – There must be a proclamation of the Lord. If we – His people – hold our peace, then the very rocks will cry out.

Have we, as His people, held our peace? There have been more archeological discoveries in the past two decades than in all of history before – the rocks are crying out, are we?

There are ABA churches in about ¼ of the nations of the Earth, but our commission is to share Christ with all the Earth.

Solomon’s prayer was not just for his people to sing God’s praise, but for all the Earth to praise the Lord.

1.       Sing Unto the Lord All the Earth

a.       It must be our desire/objective/goal to share Christ with all the Earth

                                                               i.      It is God who places that desire in our hearts!

ii.      Do you have that desire today?`

b.       The mission of your church is the mission of God

c.       “I am a Baptist missionary and I am a Missionary Baptist because my God is a missionary God.”

2.       Shew forth His salvation to all the Earth

a.       Christ came, paid our sin debt, conquered debt on the third day – believe it and be saved Romans 10:9-10

3.       Declare His glory throughout all the earth

a.       Mission work is not a New Testament concept: God has always been in the mission business

b.       Why did God ask Adam where he was? Because God Himself is the first missionary – He went out to ask the question to provoke the heart.

c.       “Our neighbor is not our enemy. Our neighbor is our mission.”

4.       Give unto the Lord all the Earth

a.       Victor Hugo: You can give without loving but you cannot love without giving.

b.       Mission work is costly. It was costly to God and it is costly to us: we must give our time, our treasure, and our talents.

c.       “Saints on their knees keep missionaries on their feet.”

5.       Worship the Lord all the Earth

a.       Our great mission is not only for us to worship the Lord but to make worshippers of all the Earth.

b.       Why do we do all of these things?

                                                               i.      To lead people in worship

ii.      Because great is the LORD and greatly to be praised

  1. Regarding the memorials, I had several friends who have passed away this past year. Bro. James Madison was a dear friend of mine who pastored Tuscanooga Baptist Church in Groveland for exactly 40 years. My "hero's" are those who stay at the same church for a long time because it is so easy to get discouraged and leave. Bro. Pete Strickland was a dear friend as well for a number of years. We served together as trustees of Florida Baptist Encampment for 3 years. Bro. Harold Williams was one of the founders of Macedonian Missionary Service and was my pastor when I was a boy. He also was my English teacher at FBS. A quick story; when I was pastoring in Davenport, Florida, he came by the church at my invitation to preach. I introduced him thusly; "We have to preach for us my former pastor, Bro. Harold Williams. He was also my English teacher at Florida Baptist Schools when I went there. I must say this about Bro. Williams; I ain't never had no better English teacher than Bro. Williams!" He just hung his head, shook it and came to the pulpit!!
